Koulp©logo: The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Soudougui, Nebgniga Ou©draogo, inaugurated the activities for National Tree Day (JNA) this Saturday at the communal grove. The event was themed ‘My concession, my tree’ and aimed to promote environmental preservation through civic involvement.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony saw the participation of administrative authorities, technical service managers, community leaders, and numerous residents. This year’s edition of the JNA seeks to motivate citizens to plant and maintain at least one tree in their respective environments. This initiative is intended to aid in the restoration of vegetation cover, combat desertification, and improve living conditions.
In his speech, the PDS of Soudougui highlighted the crucial role trees play in safeguarding natural resources and enhancing living environments. He urged the community to embrace this year’s theme by transforming their properties into sustainable green spaces.
Lieutenant Karim Yao, head of the Soudougui departmental environmental service from the Water and Forestry Service, underscored the importance of trees in maintaining environmental balance. He appealed to citizens to plant and care for trees to ensure their survival.
Following the speeches and the symbolic planting of seedlings, attendees visited the nursery site to acquire seedlings, showing their commitment to the national goal of re-greening Faso.
