Kourittenga: Consumers Informed About Their Rights, Duties, and Procedures for Accessing Electricity

Kourittenga: The Energy Sector Regulatory Authority (ARSE), in collaboration with the Burkinabe National Electricity Company (SONABEL), held an information session with consumers on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Koup©la, focusing on their rights, responsibilities, and procedures for accessing electricity. The objective was to discuss the conditions for connection, subscription, and related aspects of SONABEL electricity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Arianne Gladys Bado, director of SONABEL's Tenkodogo sales office, stated that it was appropriate to provide customers with electricity-related information and introduce new tools, including the e-counter, an application available on the web and Android.

She explained that these tools facilitate procedures for subscriptions, connections, and various services offered by SONABEL at physical counters. The e-counter platform also enables SONABEL customers to request services and pay their bills remotely.

ARSE's Director of Legal Affairs and Litigation, Damba Ouoba, emphasized the importance of informing consumers about their rights and responsibilities as customers. He highlighted the session as an opportunity to raise awareness about SONABEL's service regulations and the procedures for supplying electricity to the population of Koup©la.

"We are satisfied with this meeting because we were reassured by consumers' understanding of the messages we had to convey," concluded Damba Ouoba.
