Koup©la:The National Police intensified helmet enforcement measures in Koup©la, Kourittenga province, resulting in the impounding of more than 200 motorcycles from riders not wearing helmets.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this crackdown follows several awareness campaigns aimed at educating road users about the importance of wearing helmets. Despite these efforts, some motorcyclists have continued to neglect this crucial safety measure.
National Police officials stated that the operation's objective is to remind motorcyclists of their obligation to wear helmets, enforce traffic rules, and protect riders from head injuries in the event of an accident. The Provincial Director of the National Police of Kourittenga, Chief Commissioner Bienvenue Warm©, noted that the enforcement phase follows the 'Head Shield' awareness campaign.
To retrieve their motorcycles, offenders must present a helmet and pay a fine of 3,000 CFA francs, as outlined in the operation's provisions. Chief Commissioner Warm© urged the public to adhere to road safety rules, emphasizing that wearing a helmet should become a habitual practice for every motorcyclist to ensure personal and public safety.
The authorities aim for helmet use to become a routine safety practice among two-wheeler users, reinforcing road discipline and highlighting the role of traffic rule compliance in protecting human life.
