Kourittenga Reforestation Initiative Sees Over 70 Trees Planted in Local Schools

Kourittenga: The Gounghin Departmental Council of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) spearheaded a reforestation initiative on Monday, September 14, 2026, focusing on the theme "Planting today is breathing tomorrow." More than 70 seedlings were planted in the Centre A and C schools of Gounghin as part of this effort.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was organized by the CSOs to support the "Regreening Faso" initiative, backed by the Comrade President of Faso. Honore Tougma, president of the departmental council of Civil Society Organizations of Gounghin, emphasized the activity's goal to foster a greener environment and reflect the commitment of civil society organizations.

Lieutenant Boureima Pilabre, Head of the Environment Service of Gounghin, provided guidance on the proper steps for planting the seedlings. He emphasized the importance of not only planting trees but also maintaining them to ensure their survival and growth.

Fran§ois Xavier Lessogo, President of the special delegation of the commune of Gounghin, commended the council of CSOs for their initiative. He encouraged the beneficiary schools to maintain the plants and urged the local population to engage in tree planting to help restore vegetation cover.
