Aribinda: The President of the Special Delegation, Comrade Lazard KIEME, officially launched the activities of the highly anticipated Maracana Tournament, the 'Tournament of Hope,' in the commune of Aribinda. The day began auspiciously with the organization of a popular cross-country race, bringing the population together in a spirit of fraternity and sportsmanship.According to Burkina Information Agency, the mid-afternoon saw the Aribinda departmental pitch come alive with the rhythm of the opening match, precisely at 4:00 PM. The ceremony included prominent figures, such as the representative of the sponsor, the commander of the 28th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), and the president of the special delegation of Aribinda, along with administrative, customary, and elder representatives of the commune.The opening match featured a face-off between two formidable teams: BIR 28 A and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) team. After a hard-fought contest, BIR 28 A emerged victorious, winnin g by a score of two goals to zero.Beyond the sporting competition, the tournament aims to serve as a vehicle for social cohesion. It is designed to strengthen the bonds between different societal components, promote communal living, and provide a space for relaxation and sharing among the inhabitants of Aribinda.
