Military Triumphs in Inaugural ‘Maracana of Committed Patriots’ Tournament

Sabou: The military wins the first edition of the "Maracana of Committed Patriots" with a decisive 3-0 victory against the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland. Organized by the association "My Faso First", this competition saw the participation of six teams.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Sabou military detachment team, donned in yellow jerseys, and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), in red jerseys, advanced to the final after a series of competitive matches. The military team claimed the championship with a 3-1 victory, celebrated by supporters from across the town.The victorious military team was awarded 75,000 CFA francs, two balls, sets of jerseys, and a trophy. Meanwhile, the VDP, as the runners-up, received 50,000 CFA francs, two balls, and sets of jerseys.Abdoul Aziz Koara, president of the special delegation, praised the initiative: "I congratulate the association Mon Faso d'abord and the municipal coordination of the Citizen Watch of Sabou for this great i nitiative to support our FDS through this competition."Colonel-Major Koudougou Abel Zongo, the ceremony's sponsor and Director General of Civil Protection, lauded the finalists: "I found both teams to be fantastic. They gave their best in a spirit of fair play. This is a credit to the defense and security forces."Alassane Zoubga, president of the "Mon Faso d'abord" Association and tournament initiator, expressed his dedication: "Our country has been facing a war for ten years.
