Minister Aminata Zerbo visited a Smart Village project in Niamey

Ouagadougou: Burkinabe Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane visited, in Niamey, the headquarters of the Smart Village Project (PVI) intended to bridge the digital divide of Niger and to promote rural development and financial inclusion, alongside his counterparts from the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States.The smart village project is supported by the Nigerien government with financial support from the World Bank and will contribute to 'bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas, and accelerating rural development thanks to digital technology', reports the service of communication from Minister Aminata Zerbo, present in Niamey since April 18 as part of Niger's national digital week.For Ms. Zerbo, this is 'a structuring and impactful project which should allow Niger to succeed in its digital transition in an inclusive manner, by allowing all Nigerien populations, wherever they may be, to be able to access the electronic communicatio n service. and benefit from the potential of digital technology.'It's a great experience from which we will also draw inspiration, so that we too can continue our journey towards an effective and successful digital transition,' she added.She said she was satisfied to have shared the experience of Niger and other countries of the Alliance of Sahel States. 'This sharing of experiences is very enriching, and it is the AES which wins. We are coming together to be able to make digital a lever for socio-economic development for the benefit of all our populations,' concluded the Minister in charge of Digital.The Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications represented the President of Faso Ibrahim Traoré at the first edition of the National Digital Week for which Burkina Faso was the guest country of honor.The event, under the theme 'Digital and Sovereignty', saw the participation of delegations from the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and China.Source: Burkina Infor mation Agency
