Minister of Sports Encourages Young Athletes at National Youth Sports Games

Bobo-Dioulasso:The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Annick Pikbougoum/Zingu© Ouattara, visited the 4th edition of the National Youth Sports Games in Bobo-Dioulasso to encourage participants and assess the competitions' progress.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister's tour started at Wobi Stadium with the kickoff of a quarter-final football match between EFORS of Liptako and Lowgoin FC of Toma. She also visited Ouezzin Coulibaly High School to watch girls' basketball and volleyball events.

Annick Pikbougoum/Zingu© Ouattara commended the high level of skill displayed by the young athletes. She emphasized the importance of these Games in providing a platform for young talents from various provinces to compete and develop. The minister also urged coaching staff and sports federations to identify and nurture young talents for future national U17 and U20 teams.

The Games also promote inclusion, with athletes with disabilities participating alongside their peers. Volleyball player Joseph Kientega highlighted the opportunity these Games present for young athletes to showcase their skills and gain recognition, with aspirations to represent the nation. The event gathers young athletes from across the country in various disciplines to foster the growth of new Burkinab¨ sporting talent.
