More Than 10 Days Without Rain Raises Concerns Among Bittou Farmers

Ouagadougou: The commune of Bittou, in the province of Boulgou, has been experiencing an interruption of rains for more than ten days, raising concerns among producers, while the agricultural campaign had so far been full of hope.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in the villages and hamlets of the area, eyes are now regularly turned to the sky. With each appearance of clouds on the horizon, farmers hope for a return of rainfall, essential for the healthy growth of crops.

After several days of waiting, concern is beginning to spread among farmers. Some fear the consequences of this dry spell on cereals and other crops grown in the area. 'We had good rains at the beginning of the campaign, which gave us a lot of hope. But for several days now, the rain has stopped and we don't know how long this situation will last,' says Yacouba Tougma, a producer.

In the fields, farmers continue to tend their plots, hoping for the next rain. For many, each passing day without precipitation intensifies their anxieties about the agricultural season. This temporary interruption of the rains is also fueling discussions within the communities. Producers are trying to understand the reasons for this phenomenon, which they consider unusual. While some suggest explanations linked to beliefs and divine events, others point to changes observed in human behavior and the environment.

Despite their concerns, the farmers of Bittou refuse to give in to despair. They are still pinning their hopes on a return of the rains soon, which will allow the crops to complete their growing cycle properly. In this border area of Burkina Faso, where agriculture is one of the main activities of the population, rainfall remains crucial for the success of the campaign. While waiting for the return of rainfall, producers continue to scan the horizon, hoping to soon see clouds heralding rain.
