Ganzourgou: More than 8,000 children targeted by the reactive measles and rubella vaccination campaign in Mogt©do. The Mogt©do Medical Center (CM), like other health facilities targeted for measles and rubella vaccination, launched its reactive measles and rubella vaccination campaign on Monday, August 3, 2026. Scheduled to run until August 9, 2026, the operation aims to vaccinate more than 8,000 children aged 6 months to 10 years within the Mogt©do CM health district.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the major at the Mogt©do medical center, Daouda Sawadogo, stated that this campaign is a response to the recent resurgence of measles cases, despite efforts made through routine vaccination.
"Our health area has a target of more than 8,000 children. Extending the age range from 6 months to 10 years will protect children who have not yet reached the age for the first dose of vaccine, but also those who, for various reasons, have not benefited from vaccination," he explained.
To ensure the smooth running of the operation, twelve vaccination sites have been opened within the health district. The major indicated that the teams are being reinforced and reorganized according to the number of people seeking vaccination in order to guarantee rapid care for children.
Addressing rumors circulating on social media about the vaccines, Comrade Sawadogo urged the public to trust healthcare professionals. He reiterated that the vaccines administered as part of this campaign are the same as those used in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and are recognized for their efficacy and safety.
Balkissa Ou©draogo, who came to have her three children vaccinated, praised the health authorities' initiative. She encouraged all mothers to bring their children to the vaccination sites. She believes that strong public participation will better protect children and sustainably reduce the spread of measles and rubella in Burkina Faso.
The campaign continues until August 9, 2026, in all vaccination sites set up by the Mogt©do Medical Center.
