Moroccan Cyclists Strategize for Overall Success in Tour du Faso

Koupéla:Moroccan cyclists are focusing on achieving top positions in the individual and team general classifications at the Tour du Faso, rather than pursuing stage wins. This strategic approach has been outlined by their national technical director, Ahmed Rhaili, who is prioritizing collective strategy and effective effort management.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ahmed Rhaili stated that his aim is to enhance the final individual and team rankings instead of securing stage victories. He emphasized that the team has been composed of a homogeneous group to tackle the stages effectively, focusing on seizing opportunities when the riders are in peak condition.

Rhaili highlighted the Bobo-Dioulasso circuit as an example where Moroccan riders performed strongly at the race's forefront but ultimately conceded the stage victory to Dutch rider Kerkhofs. This scenario, he noted, underscores the difference between securing a stage win and achieving a favorable overall ranking.

A puncture experienced by rider Youssef Bdadou in Bobo-Dioulasso was noted, which Rhaili believes deprived him of a better performance. Despite this setback, Bdadou holds third place in the general classification, trailing the yellow jersey by twenty-nine seconds and currently leads the points classification with the green jersey.

On the team front, Morocco is in second place, just one second behind the Burkinabe team, bolstering the ambitions declared by the management. The team includes riders from diverse locations, with Achraf Ed-Doghmy, Youssef Bdadou, Mohcine Kouraji, Driss El Alouani, Marouane Kharbouchi, and Adil El Arbaoui joining from across the globe.

Rhaili stresses the importance of rider support and comfort, avoiding additional pressure to allow natural progression based on each rider's ability and form. Moving forward, the Moroccan team is committed to maintaining regularity and solidarity, aiming to solidify their positions in the overall standings.
