Mouhoun Celebrates Student Teacher Recognition Week Highlighting Teachers’ Role in Education

Mouhoun: The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, launched the second edition of the Student Recognition Week for Teachers (SRE) at the Dedougou multipurpose municipal high school, under the theme: "My teacher, pillar of my education and my values."

According to Burkina Information Agency, Student Teacher Recognition Week is an initiative aimed at promoting gratitude, respect, and appreciation for the essential role of teachers in shaping citizens and developing the nation. This symbolic initiative is intended as a sincere expression of collective gratitude, offering a privileged opportunity to pay tribute to those who tirelessly build minds and shape consciences.

The principal of the Dedougou high school, Ousmane Ouedraogo, praised the authorities' commitment to education, emphasizing the importance of expressing gratitude to teachers and alumni. A student representative acknowledged the teachers as architects of knowledge and builders of the future, commending their patience and commitment.

The teachers' representative, Djeneba Esther Coulibaly, highlighted the educational and civic scope of the SRE, reinforcing the bonds between learners and mentors. She described teachers as "sowers of the future," whose efforts form responsible citizens.

Maximin Some, the ceremony's sponsor and a retired English teacher, emphasized the sacrifices made by teachers and urged students to show respect and gratitude, which are essential for success. Governor Bassinga reiterated the initiative's aim to highlight teachers' sense of duty and commitment, inviting students to adopt responsible behaviors.

The educational community of the Bankui and Sourou regions plans to consolidate recognition and mutual respect during May 4 to 10, 2026, fostering a peaceful school environment conducive to student success.
