Mouhoun: The Muslim community of Safane gathered to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, 2026, with prayers led by Imam Omar Sako, focusing on blessings for peace, social cohesion, and prosperity in Burkina Faso. The event saw participation from administrative and security authorities, the Chief of Canton Dr. Sina Sere, and Grand Imam El Hadj Amada Sako, whose presence was warmly welcomed by the attendees.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Canton Chief Dr. Sina Sere called on the community to embrace values of peace, tolerance, and forgiveness, which he asserted are crucial for harmonious coexistence. He urged an increase in prayers for the enduring peace of the nation and expressed gratitude to national leaders for their efforts toward stability.

Ali Traore, President of the special delegation of Safane, commended the Muslim community's mobilization and spiritual dedication. He acknowledged the contributions of the Chief of Canton and the Grand Imam in reducing social tensions and enhancing community unity.

Following the prayers, municipal authorities, along with defense and security leaders, visited the Chief of Canton, Dr. Sina Sere, to convey their gratitude and holiday wishes, a gesture that was well-received. The delegation also visited Grand Imam El Hadj Amada Sako, offering respect and best wishes. In response, the Grand Imam offered prayers for Burkina Faso's peace and prosperity and praised the initiative of the municipal and security officials.
