Ouagadougou: The Director General of the National Museum of Burkina Faso, Christian Sabari Dao, announced on Monday a transformative initiative titled "Operation 15 Days to Transform My National Museum and Its Surroundings." This effort, set to take place from March 26 to April 10, 2026, aims to enhance the museum's appeal and environment, coinciding with the upcoming Heritage Month.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Director General Sabari Dao emphasized that the operation is intended to bring about a rapid and noticeable transformation of the museum through various improvements. These include beautification, development, and redevelopment efforts to align the museum with both national and international standards. In a press conference, Sabari Dao highlighted the importance of creating a more attractive and pleasant space for visitors.

The project is spearheaded by the Association of Friends of the National Museum, in collaboration with partners such as the Faso-Mªbo agency and the special delegation of the Ouagadougou municipality. It will engage a diverse group of participants, including artists, technicians, engineers, businesses, local residents, and volunteers, in activities aimed at enhancing the museum's visual appeal with urban art. Other actions will focus on improving accessibility, rehabilitating certain areas, and bolstering visitor safety and comfort.

In the context of increasing cultural and identity challenges, Mr. Dao underscored the museum's vital role in fostering social cohesion and promoting cultural heritage. He called upon Burkinab¨ citizens, public institutions, the private sector, and technical partners to support the initiative's success.

Sayouba Sawadogo, President of the Association of Friends of the National Museum, reiterated the goal of making the museum a cleaner and more welcoming space that can attract a wider audience. He urged the public to participate actively in the initiative, which promises to benefit the entire community.
