Ouagadougou: The Governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, presided over the official inauguration of two police stations in sectors 4 and 6 of Dedougou on Thursday, July 30, 2026. This event underscores the authorities' commitment to enhancing security services and improving coverage within the city.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the inauguration of the police stations is part of an ongoing effort by the national police force to engage with the community. The initiative aims to enhance access to security services, focusing on crime prevention, public order maintenance, protection of people and property, and strengthening local intelligence.
Divisional Police Commissioner Yoin Nebile Amidou, representing the Director General of the National Police, highlighted that this development is integral to the strategy of modernizing the police institution and boosting its operational efficiency. He noted that the new police stations will bolster the security framework surrounding the central police station in Dedougou and extend the National Police's presence in rapidly expanding areas.
"This initiative responds to the vision of a police force that is closer to citizens, more accessible, more responsive and more attentive to the concerns of the population," Amidou stated, also announcing plans for two additional police stations by the end of 2026.
Commissioner Amidou elaborated on the strategic approach termed "Strategic and Operational Innovation for Daily Security (ISOSQ)," which adapts the police system to urban realities and ensures citizens have quicker access to security services. He encouraged the public to engage with the new police stations and work collaboratively with the security forces, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility.
Addressing the police personnel assigned to the new units, Amidou urged them to maintain integrity, professionalism, and exemplary conduct. He advised against corruption, abuse, and unwarranted violence to preserve trust between the National Police and citizens, which is vital for the success of security missions.
Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga praised the establishment of the new police stations as a testament to the State's dedication to ensuring the security of people and property nationwide.
