Ouagadougou: Muslim faithful in the Liptako region celebrated Mawlid on Tuesday, commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in an atmosphere of religious fervor, reflection, and prayers for the return of peace, unity, and social cohesion to Burkina Faso. In Dori, the capital of the Liptako region, many Muslim faithful gathered at the city’s main mosque for this celebration.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this commemoration was marked by a religious teaching vigil dedicated to the life and work of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as well as individual and collective prayers for Burkina Faso. The celebration took place in a deeply spiritual atmosphere, reflecting the faithful’s commitment to religious values, particularly peace, solidarity, forgiveness, and brotherhood.
The ritual was led by Imam Yaya Mamoudou Ciss, in the presence of administrative, traditional, and religious authorities. Imam Ciss emphasized that the celebration served to remind the faithful of the lessons learned from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to encourage everyone to draw inspiration from his conduct in their daily lives. ‘Among the commemorative activities are reflections on the life of the Messenger of Islam and individual and collective prayers,’ he said.
Through these teachings, religious leaders encouraged the faithful to strengthen their faith and cultivate the values ??of tolerance, understanding, and solidarity within the community. During the vigil, Imam Yaya Mamoudou Ciss offered prayers for the return of peace to Burkina Faso. He also invoked God for harmony, unity, and strengthened social cohesion among the various segments of the Burkinab¨ nation.
Several worshippers present at the ceremony said they, too, prayed for peace and stability in the country, hoping that the Burkinab¨ people could live in peace and brotherhood.
