Nakambe: The Nakambe region celebrated its 20th Regional Day of Academic Excellence on Saturday, an edition marked by outstanding achievements, major innovations, and exceptional mobilization around education and patriotism. Under the chairmanship of Governor Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, the ceremony recognized the combined efforts of teachers, students, parents, and technical partners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a historic performance was achieved with a 92.31% success rate and five out of ten national winners passing the CEP 2025. More than 172 awards were presented as the Nakambe region celebrated two decades of educational commitment, resilience, and patriotism.
In his address, the Regional Director in charge of education, Bourbila Pierre Silga, described the year as one of legitimate pride. Out of 22,556 candidates who sat the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP), 20,821 passed, marking a record pass rate of 92.31%, up 3.36 points compared to 2024 and 3.15 points above the national average.
This achievement was further highlighted by the remarkable national distinction: five of the ten best students in Burkina Faso, awarded prizes during the National Day of Excellence, presided over by the Head of State, come from the Nakambe region.
The Regional Director emphasized that these figures tell the story of a region that refuses to accept defeat, paying tribute to the teachers, parents, and students who fight every day to keep the school standing.
The region also announced the awarding of 172 prizes to individuals and organizations, including teachers, students, supervisors, administrative staff, partners, traditional authorities, and educational institutions. Notable achievements included teachers who achieved a 100% pass rate with classes of between 55 and 93 candidates, as well as special prizes for Franco-Arabic institutions, preschools, literacy centers, and community schools.
Innovations in this edition included awards for five resilient teachers from areas facing security challenges, fifteen internally displaced students, and letters of commendation to the regional coordination team.
The celebration of excellence was also marked by a widespread mobilization of citizens and solidarity. Education stakeholders raised a total of 23,604,043 FCFA to support national resilience initiatives. The funds were distributed as follows: 40% for Faso Mebo, enabling the acquisition of 74 tonnes of cement and 190 m³ of aggregates; 30% for the FDS and VDP, financing 8 motorcycles, 1,200 jackets, and fuel vouchers for a total amount of 7,080,000 FCFA; 30% for the Deme Sira campaign, deposited in a Treasury account.
The governor also handed over the sum of one million in the morning in support of the family of the late teacher Yacouba Zongo, who was murdered in November in Loungo in the Koulpelgo.
The representative of Plan Burkina praised the visionary leadership, recalling that the NGO remains committed to equitable access to education and coordinates the Nakambe Education Cluster.
Driven by its exceptional results, innovations, and spirit of solidarity, the 20th Nakambe Regional Day of Academic Excellence confirms the momentum of a region resolutely committed to performance, equity, and resilience. "Excellence is not an isolated act, but a culture we build together," concluded the Regional Director, calling for continued collective effort to elevate the region to one of the country's top performers.
