Namentenga: 123,655 children aged 0 to 59 months will be vaccinated against polio from Friday, November 7 to Monday, November 10, 2025, in the Boulsa and Tougouri health districts as part of a campaign aligned with the Vitamin A+ Immunization Days (VA+).

According to Burkina Information Agency, Rasmani Zagre, head of the vaccination prevention service for the Boulsa health district, highlighted the urgency of the campaign due to a detected case of poliomyelitis in the Gourma region, which has prompted the initiative in 26 out of 70 health districts across Burkina Faso.

The polio vaccination campaign combined with JVA+ aims to target 47,953 children in the Boulsa health district and 75,702 children in the Tougouri health district. Journalists attending a recent press meeting received detailed responses regarding strategies for implementing the campaign in areas facing significant security challenges.

In addition to vaccination efforts, the campaign will include screening children aged 6 to 59 months for malnutrition and administering vitamin A supplementation and albendazole to those aged 12 to 59 months. Sidyetba Mahamadi Naze, representing the chief medical officer of the Boulsa health district, expressed gratitude to journalists for their cooperation and contributions towards enhancing public health.
