Kaya: The Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DPCCAT) of Namentenga, Touwendinda Francis Sakande, announced on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the current status of registrations for the upcoming Kuilse Regional Culture Week. This event is scheduled to take place on September 6 and 7, 2025, in Kaya, focusing on the theme "Youth Culture and Transmission of Social Values." Mr. Sakande expressed satisfaction with the preparations and the enthusiasm of the registered troupes, emphasizing that Namentenga aims to make a significant impact at this cultural gathering.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Namentenga province has shown impressive participation by registering 46 out of the 80 candidates from the Kuilse region in the categories of performing arts, plastic arts, culinary arts, and traditional sports. The province also achieved full registration in the traditional sports category, with 26 out of 26 candidates.
The participating troupes are currently practicing at the Boulsa community center under the guidance of the deputy for cultural affairs, Omar Ouedraogo. Mr. Ouedraogo is imparting his expertise to ensure Namentenga's successful participation in the forthcoming Bobo 2026 National Culture Week (SNC).
Despite the enthusiasm, challenges remain. The head of the Kiagba Rakiswilgda troupe of Boulsa, Mrs. Marie Bibiane Sandouidi/Ouedraogo, highlighted equipment as a major concern for her troupe, which is participating for the first time. Meanwhile, Mr. Sakande noted that among the registered troupes, only the Warba de Sini troupe is a regular performer on stage, indicating a blend of seasoned and new participants in the event.
