Nando: Regional Launch of the Month of Exemplary Tax Practices

Nando: The governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean-Yves Bere, initiated the regional month of exemplary tax conduct on Tuesday at the provincial tax office in Boulkiemde, as observed by AIB. The event saw participation from the region's constituted bodies, who demonstrated leadership by fulfilling their tax obligations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is part of a broader campaign aimed at promoting economic sovereignty. The operation seeks to encourage citizens to meet their tax responsibilities by following the lead of administrative authorities. This regional effort is aligned with a national initiative launched on Monday, March 9, 2026, by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo.

The governor of the Nando region emphasized the significance of the authorities' exemplary conduct as a crucial factor in rallying public support for internal resource mobilization. 'We must mobilize our resources to support the development of our country. Most salaries paid in the civil service come from tax revenue. It is therefore important that everyone plays their part,' stated Adama Jean-Yves Bere. He acknowledged the regional directors and various administrative officials who participated in this civic activity.

Jules Tiendrebeogo, the regional tax director for Nando, clarified that the initiative aims to show that the authorities themselves comply with their tax duties to motivate the public to do the same. "There is no better way to educate than by example. This morning, the governor and all the constituted bodies paid their taxes, including the residence tax, the motor vehicle tax, the license fee, and the property income tax," he specified.

Mr. Tiendrebeogo further reminded that the operation will continue throughout March, with tax services available in various provinces to assist taxpayers. He urged public officials and citizens to fulfill their tax obligations to contribute to funding the country's development initiatives.

In parallel to this activity, the governor praised the regional tax authority for its role in securing the governorate's property. Boundary markers were installed to delineate the area and prevent unlawful occupation.

For regional authorities, mobilizing domestic revenue is a fundamental pillar in building a sovereign economy and financing public policies.
