Ouagadougou: The Nazinon Regional Directorate of Mines and Quarries carried out a reforestation project on Thursday in the green space of Sector 4 in the city of Manga. On this occasion, its regional director, Herv© Kalmogo, urged local residents to protect and care for the saplings, stating that "planting a tree is planting a life."

According to Burkina Information Agency, this reforestation operation is part of the call launched by the highest authorities of Burkina Faso in favour of restoring vegetation cover, through the initiative "My concession, my tree". Addressing the participants and local residents, Mr. Kalmogo stressed the collective responsibility in preserving the planted seedlings.

'While we planted these trees, you are the ones who truly benefit,' he declared, emphasizing the essential role of trees in combating environmental degradation and improving the quality of life for local communities. He added that every citizen must contribute to protecting our forest heritage, because 'planting a tree is planting a life.'

Speaking on behalf of the provincial director of Environment and Living Conditions of Zoundw©ogo, Lieutenant Issouf Ouattara urged the population to ensure the maintenance and monitoring of the young plants, while awaiting the implementation of a water supply system intended to facilitate their watering. He indicated that this activity is in line with the vision of national authorities to accelerate the restoration of vegetation cover and strengthen environmental protection actions.

The activity mobilized local populations as well as several technical services, demonstrating a collective commitment to environmental preservation.
