L©raba/Raising Of The Colors: The High Commissioner Calls On Everyone To Reflect On Their Role In Building The Nation

L‚¬Å¡¬°raba: The High Commissioner of L©raba Province, Yacouba Sawadogo, presided over the monthly flag-raising ceremony at the L©raba Provincial Directorate of the National Police on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He relayed the message of the President of Burkina Faso and invited each citizen to reflect deeply on their contribution to the future of the nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, at 7:30 a.m., the national flag was raised to the top of the mast to the sound of the Ditany¨, sung in chorus by the administrative authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the constituted bodies, and the populations mobilized within the premises of the Provincial Directorate of the National Police in Sindou, capital of the province of L©raba.

Established in 2022 in L©raba, the collective and rotating raising of the national colours aims to strengthen civic-mindedness, love of country, and respect for the symbols of the State. Organised every first Thursday of the month, this ceremony will see an innovation in 2026. From now on, it will take place in rotation, every two months, in one of the eight departments of the province, following alphabetical order, in order to extend this patriotic dynamic to the entire provincial territory.

The High Commissioner of the province of L©raba, Yacouba Sawadogo, presented the main points of the message from the President of Faso relating to the commemoration of the Democratic and Popular Revolution of August 4, 1984, as well as the 66th anniversary of the independence of Burkina Faso. According to him, this message invites Burkinabe people to reflect on their individual and collective responsibility in building a sovereign nation.

"By relaying to you the content of this strong message from the Head of State, I would like to invite each of us to a deep introspection on our respective role in the future of our Nation," said the High Commissioner.

The provincial director of the National Police of L©raba, Chief Commissioner Konlar© Sadock Hien, presented the missions of his service before reminding everyone of the civic attitudes to observe with regard to the national flag and other symbols of the State.

The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Kankalaba, Blaise Arnaud Zomono, received the symbolic torch. He and his colleagues pledged to successfully organize the next national flag-raising ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Kankalaba.
