Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the Koulpelogo province, Sadou Ouedraogo, presided over the launch ceremony of the 48-hour post-exam Information and Guidance Days (JIO) for 2026, this Monday at the Cinkanse High School. This initiative aims to support new holders of the BEPC and the baccalaureate in choosing their academic and professional path.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Yargatenga, Mahamadou Sarambe, regional and provincial authorities in charge of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, military and paramilitary authorities, heads of services, partners in the education sector, as well as teachers, students and parents of students.
In his welcoming remarks, President Mahamadou Sarambe congratulated the graduates of the 2026 session and commended the resilience of those involved in the education system, who ensured the continuity of teaching despite the security situation. He encouraged the new graduates to pay close attention to the various announcements in order to make informed choices for their future.
The Provincial Director of Secondary Education in Koulpelogo, Jacob Segda, presented the results recorded in the province, reporting a success rate of 56.89% in the BEPC and 62.25% in the baccalaureate. Congratulating those who passed and encouraging those who failed to persevere, he paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their efforts in restoring peace.
He recalled that obtaining the BEPC or the baccalaureate is a step and not an end in itself, stressing that the JIO offer new graduates the necessary guidance to succeed in their orientation in higher education or vocational training.
Representing the Ministry of Secondary Education, the Regional Director of Nakambe, Nachor Sorgo, emphasized the importance of well-considered career guidance. He indicated that, over two days, participants would meet with career counselors and representatives from universities and training institutions to learn more about the opportunities available to them. He also announced that the mandatory patriotic immersion of new high school graduates from Koulpelogo will take place from July 27 to August 26, 2026 in Tenkodogo, while calling for a mobilization of endogenous resources to support this initiative.
High Commissioner Sadou Ouedraogo congratulated the new graduates on their achievements and urged them to believe in their potential. He commended the commitment of the various stakeholders in education before officially opening the 2026 Information and Orientation Days in Koulpelogo Province.
The ceremony was marked by the planting of a tree, a symbol of hope, growth and the future.
