Poura: The Youth Promotion and Professional Integration Service (ROPI) has established a 14-member sports management body to oversee and promote sports activities in Poura. The formation of this new body took place during a constituent general assembly, attended by various stakeholders from the local sports community.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the newly formed organization, named the "Association for the Promotion of Sport in Poura (APSP)," aims to manage sports and recreational activities within the municipality. The assembly, held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, was marked by the presence of Symphorien Hien, the provincial director of sports and recreation for Bale, who underscored the importance of this initiative.
Before electing the board members, the attendees reviewed, amended, and adopted the statutes and internal regulations of the association. The proceedings of the meeting will be documented, and a dossier will be prepared to seek official recognition from the High Commission of Bale.
Symphorien Hien congratulated those involved in the establishment of the APSP. He expressed hope that if successful, the initiative could be replicated in other municipalities. He urged the new board to work collaboratively to ensure smooth operations and to extend the initiative beyond Poura.
Lassane Ouedraogo, the newly elected president of APSP and also president of the SANE FC club, expressed his appreciation for the support from the community and emphasized the shared goal of promoting sports in Poura. He called on the executive committee to work diligently and on the community to provide guidance.
Larissa Nebie, the sole woman at the assembly, has been appointed to lead women's mobilization efforts, focusing on increasing female participation in sports within the commune.
An initial preparatory meeting was held on February 13, 2026, to organize and schedule the general assembly.
