NGO Directed Provides Essential Food Aid to Vulnerable Populations in Koudougou

Koudougou: On the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, the socio-educational center of the NGO Directed in Koudougou carried out a major distribution of food to vulnerable populations on Wednesday, AIB observed. This initiative, with a total cost of 13 million FCFA, aims to support impoverished families during the fasting period.

According to Burkina Information Agency, under the leadership of its director, Mr. Jumail Fouad, the center mobilized significant resources to respond to the social emergency. In total, 495 food kits were distributed to people with disabilities, the elderly, and households identified as being in need. Each kit, designed to support families of 8 to 15 people, includes 25 kg of rice, 5 kg of spaghetti, 5 kg of sugar, and 5 liters of oil.

"This is a great initiative to relieve the population and give them support during this holy month," said Mr. Fouad, stressing that this action is part of an annual tradition of the NGO, which is also active during Tabaski through its six centers in Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Fada, P´, and Koudougou).

Beyond providing immediate humanitarian aid, Mr. Jumail Fouad emphasized the center's broader mission, which already houses 205 orphans. The goal is to guide communities toward financial independence by funding income-generating activities (IGAs) in livestock farming, agriculture, and small-scale trade (selling fruits and vegetables).

The gesture was received with deep emotion by the beneficiaries. Mariam Nana, one of them, expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am overjoyed by this noble act, carried out in accordance with the teachings of the holy scriptures. We pray that Allah continues to bless their businesses so that they will not forget to help us."

The ceremony was marked by the presence of several local authorities, including the representative of the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Koudougou, Mr. Emmanuel Yameogo, and the representative of the provincial director of secondary education. The NGO director concluded by thanking the partners and authorities for their trust, reiterating his commitment to working towards improving the living conditions of the local population.
