Iferouane: The Burkinabe Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, emphasized the vital role of culture in the restructuring efforts of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) during his speech at the Air Festival held in Iferouane, northern Niger. He articulated that culture should be the cornerstone of the AES's rebuilding initiatives.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo expressed that the cultural experiences at the festival reinforced the belief that culture should serve as the foundation for the AES's revitalization efforts. After attending the night opening of the 17th Festival de l'Air, he remarked on the significance of celebrating and valuing culture as a fundamental part of building a peaceful and united Sahel, stressing the importance of self-determination for the region's future.

The Air Festival, which opened with the theme "Promoting domestic tourism and handicrafts, pillars of sovereignty and resilient development," aligns with Ouedraogo's stance. He noted that the theme serves as an invitation for the Sahelian people to reconnect with their cultural roots, viewing it as an expression of sovereignty and pride in their Sahelian identity.

Ouedraogo concluded his visit with satisfaction, expressing gratitude to his counterpart Lamine Zeine, President Tiani, the festival organizers, and the people of Niger for their hospitality. The Air Festival is renowned as a significant cultural and tourist event in Niger's Agadez region, with the 2025 edition set to conclude tomorrow, December 7.
