“It is with astonishment and dismay that ECOWAS learned of the attempted coup in Niger.

It condemns in the strongest terms this attempt to seize power by force and calls on the perpetrators of this act to immediately and unconditionally release the democratically elected President of the Republic.

ECOWAS and the international community will hold all those involved in this act accountable for the safety and security of the President, members of his family, members of government and the general public. »
