Ouagadougou, -On the occasion of the joint organization of the Exhibition and the International Showcase of Tourism, Hotels and Catering in Ouagadougou scheduled for October 26 to 29, 2023, each region of country will have a pavilion to present its tourism specificity, said this Monday, in Ouagadougou, the president of the organizing committee Fidèle Tamini.
After a few years of suspension, Burkina Faso is jointly organizing this year from October 26 to 29, 2023, the Ouagadougou International Tourism and Hospitality Exhibition (SITHO) and the International Tourism, Hospitality and Tourism Showcase. the Restoration of Ouagadougou (VITHRO).
The president of the organizing committee, Fidèle Tamini, presented this Monday during a press conference in Ouagadougou, two major innovations of the two events.
The first is “the provision of a pavilion to the regions with the aim of allowing them to present their specific tourist characteristics and encourage attendance at the sites,” he declared.
The second is “the return of the biotope (creation of a space for the presentation of some wild animals), in order to attract curiosities”.
The two Tourism, Hotel and Catering events will be held on the site of the Ouagadougou International Craft Fair (SIAO) under the theme “Promotion of internal tourism, a factor of resilience”.
The guest country of honor is Niger, as it has some security similarities with Burkina Faso and the South-Central region is the guest of honor region.
Mr. Tamini indicated the objectives which are, among others, presenting the Burkinabè tourist offer to tour operators and the diaspora, increasing the visibility on an African and international level of the Burkina Faso destination and strengthening the partnership and commercial relations between African tourism professionals.
Several activities are on the menu including a popular cross country, thematic conferences/panels, an Educ'tour, cultural events.
After 5 years of suspension for SITHO and 3 years for VITHRO, the two events were merged to be held at the same time this year.
