Ouagadougou: Students and supervisors of the Yagma municipal high school trained in emergency first aid

Ouagadougou: The African Initiative association organized on Monday, for the benefit of students and management staff of the Yagma municipal high school, a training workshop on first emergency aid actions.'There are simple actions that can help save lives but not everyone knows it. It's really a great opportunity for students to know how to help their own classmates,' said Sansan Francis Hien, principal of Yagma Municipal High School.For him, it is important for students as well as supervisory staff to know what to do in the face of possible discomfort in the school environment.Mr. Hien spoke on Monday in Ouagadougou, following the emergency first aid training workshop initiated by the Russian-Burkinabe association African Initiative, for the benefit of around fifty actors from the Yagma municipal high school. .Training which takes place within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Burkina Faso.Doctor Dolbnya Dmitri, Russian doctor, provided the training through a simulation of a student from the said establishment who suffered from illness. The treatment techniques have been scrutinized.'Through the various demonstrations with practical cases, the participants now know what action to take before help arrives,' notes the principal of the Yagma municipal high school.A first aid kit consisting of several types of medicines, plasters, electronic blood pressure monitors and others was given to the high school officials. Timely material, Sansan Francis Hien suggested.'We positively appreciate that the association shows us how to take care of our comrades who are victims of illness. If cases come to us, we think we can apply what we have learned,' appreciates Latifatou Ouédraogo, 4th grade student and participant.Miss Ouédraogo also praised the fact of having received the basics necessary to come to the aid of a person victim of a traffic accident before help arrives.'This workshop, in addition to showing what to do in the event of illness, drowning, electrocution and others, aims to encourage a vocation as a doctor among students,' says Azenwo Soumaïla Ayo, president of the African Initiative Association.The Russo-Burkinabe association also carries out actions for the cleanliness of educational establishments. Different activities are planned in the coming days.African Initiative is organizing a basketball competition from April 22 to 27. It will see the participation of Russian and Burkinabe teams. A public conference on the major assets of higher and professional education in Russia is also planned for April 20.Since December 2023, the association has organized around twenty training courses for the benefit of young people, students and pupils in the city of Ouagadougou.Source: Burkina Information Agency
