Zondoma: The national police of Gourcy urged the population, on Monday, June 6, 2026, at the raising of the colors, to wear helmets under penalty of sanction, after a period of awareness.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place around a newly arranged parade ground within the provincial directorate of the national police in Gourcy, where the solemn raising of the colours for June 2026 occurred. The initiative to enforce helmet use follows a monthly report presented by the High Commissioner of Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nab©, highlighting the situation in the province.
Local authorities took the opportunity during the ceremony to inform key stakeholders about the move towards enforcement concerning the failure of two-wheeled vehicle users to wear helmets. This decision comes after several awareness campaigns, the most recent of which was conducted on May 26 in the main streets of Gourcy.
In addition to the helmet enforcement announcement, certificates of recognition were awarded to notable individuals, including His Majesty Naaba Baongo of Gourcy and El Adj Hamidou Kindo, whose contributions facilitated the construction of the parade ground that hosted the ceremony.
