Poni: The Loropeni CEB Celebrates Successful Conclusion of Cultural and Sporting Events


Poni: The Loropeni Basic Education District (CEB) wrapped up its annual sports and cultural activities on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The event was held under the theme ‘Culture, a factor of resilience and social cohesion’ and took place at the Centre A and Centre B schools in Loropeni.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by the sponsor, Bamegan Tieba, along with various administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as educational stakeholders, students, and local residents. The Head of the CEB, represented by Inspector Sie Tioye, acknowledged the strong involvement of authorities, Defense and Security Forces (FDS), teachers, and the community of Massako for their dedication to education. He emphasized the role of sports, culture, and leisure in the psychomotor development of students and their contribution to promoting values such as coexistence, sharing, and fair play.



Inspector Tioye also expressed gratitude to the security forces for enhancing security in Loropeni and thanked teachers for their unwavering support of students in educational and extracurricular activities. He acknowledged the financial, material, and moral support from partners, the school council, and donors that was crucial for the success of the events.



Sponsor Bamegan Tieba commended the efforts of teachers and encouraged students to foster interest in sports and culture while maintaining discipline and respect. The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Loropeni called on parents and teachers to use sports and cultural activities as a foundation for social cohesion and unity through cultural diversity.



The ceremony featured artistic performances, including a rendition of the national anthem in the Lobiri language by Centre A school students and traditional dances. In men’s football, the Lokosso team triumphed over Perkoura with an 8-7 penalty shootout victory, earning a trophy, jerseys, a ball, and a cash prize of 40,000 FCFA, with a total value of 80,000 FCFA. The Perkoura team received 30,000 FCFA, jerseys, and a ball, totaling 65,000 FCFA.



In the girls’ competition, Dimolo won against Lokosso with a 1-0 score, taking home 30,000 FCFA, a trophy, jerseys, and a ball, valued at 70,000 FCFA. The runner-up team received 20,000 FCFA, jerseys, and a ball, totaling 55,000 FCFA. The activities concluded with a friendly gathering of teachers, authorities, and guests.
