Sandbondtenga: The Regional Directorate of the National Police (DRPN) of Koulse intensified road checks in Kaya as part of securing the Tabaski festival, resulting in the impounding of 91 motorcycles in just two hours of operation, on the night of Monday, May 25, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation, conducted from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. under the coordination of Chief Superintendent of Police Larba Salambanga, also resulted in the seizure of 18 documents, as well as the immobilization of two tricycles and a vehicle for various traffic violations.
Chief Warrant Officer Yacouba Sana of the regional road safety service stated that this initiative aims to significantly reduce traffic accidents in the lead-up to and during the holiday. Deployed with the support of the Judicial Police, the Anti-Crime Brigade, and the Central Police Station of Kaya, the patrol targeted several strategic areas of the city.
The operation covered offences such as speeding, failure to comply with the highway code, use of a mobile phone while driving, defective rear lights, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Police authorities have called on users to be more civic-minded and cautious to ensure that Tabaski celebrations are accident-free.
