Prefect of Sourgou Advocates for Economic Sovereignty and Civic Responsibility

Sourgou: The prefect, president of the special delegation of Sourgou, Inoussa Ouedraogo, presided over a flag-raising ceremony at the town hall, marking the start of the first phase of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ouedraogo conveyed the message from Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, emphasizing local production and tax compliance. The ceremony gathered the Prefect PDS, the canton chief of Sourgou, the Head of the Basic Education District, the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and many local citizens.

In his address, the prefect urged residents to align with the president's vision, focusing on economic independence by producing and consuming locally. He described this approach as essential for protecting against external domination and achieving true sovereignty.

The prefect also highlighted the importance of civic duties, such as paying taxes, and called on the community to foster resilience, community spirit, and social cohesion during challenging national times. He praised the efforts of security forces and volunteers working to restore national integrity.

The canton chief of Sourgou, Naaba Ziiri, added that everyone must contribute to peace, as it is crucial for development. He supported the national days' focus on local consumption as vital for freedom.
