President of Special Delegation Promotes Cooperative Farming in Ilab¨kolon Plain

Koosin: The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Dokuy, Abdou Ouahbidi Sibiri 2 Guingane, visited, this Monday, March 23, 2026, the market gardeners of the Ilab¨kolon plain, where tomatoes, watermelons and other crops are grown on an area of more than 03 hectares.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit was part of the dry season campaign, with the PDS, Abdou Ouahbidi Sibiri 2 Guingane, leading a delegation to the area where various crops are cultivated. The visit aimed to encourage the market gardeners to form cooperatives to gain access to government support and focus on cultivating profitable crops.

The PDS acknowledged the courage of the producers and expressed gratitude to the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) for their role in fostering successful community activities. The producers were advised to organize themselves into cooperatives to enhance their operations.

Jean Pierre Coulibaly, representing the producers, highlighted their challenges, such as inadequate equipment, insufficient water reservoirs, and delays in receiving agricultural inputs. He urged the producers to improve their organizational structure through cooperatives.

Ahmadoun Tamboura, the provincial director of agriculture for Koosin, assured the producers that the Ilab¨kolon site would be integrated into the next growing season. The visit concluded with a call to strive for food self-sufficiency and establish a model cooperative that enhances the credibility of the farming community.
