Prime Minister brings comfort to women affected by terrorism in Yatenga

Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla provided moral and financial support to women displaced by terrorism as well as to the women who welcomed them in the province of Yatenga, in the north of Burkina, granting an additional 5 million FCFA to producers of organic compost and vegetables, the AIB learned on Wednesday from an official source.Dr Kyélem de Tambèla visited internally displaced women, refugee women and their hosts in the province of Yatenga, one of the areas most affected by population movements linked to terrorism, on January 1, 2024, we learn. - we contact the communications department of the Prime Minister's Office.'These women producers of organic compost and vegetables benefited from a financial package of 5 million FCFA from the head of government,' adds the same source.The beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to the Prime Minister and his delegation.'We are immensely happy, because we were honored by the presence of HE the Prime Minis ter and members of the government. They gave us a great life-saving gift. We are going to multiply this money to 100 million CFA francs in the next 10 years,' said the president of the Sustainable Development Association of Internally Displaced Women, Refugees and Hosts of Yatenga (ADFDD/B), Salamata Ganamé, reports the Prime Minister .This association has 110 women including 50 IDPs, 30 refugees and 30 hosts, and works to promote the use of compost to alleviate soil fertility problems and preserve the environment in a sustainable way. The women of the association also operate an area of half a hectare of agricultural production.'We are very happy that the Prime Minister and members of the government visited us on our organic compost production and marketing site. We thank God and salute the Transitional Government for thinking of vulnerable women. May God bless them and grant them 30 years of power, because this will allow us to achieve everything we want,' added Ms. Ganamé.At the start of the year, a government delegation led by the Minister in charge of Social Action, Nandy Somé, offered 335 tons of food to IDPs and host communities in the Northern region.The commune of Ouahigouya, capital of the province of Yatenga, is the second urban center which records the most people displaced by terrorism, increasing the population of Ouahigouya by more than double in the space of four years.Source: Burkina Information Agency
