Ganzourgou: As part of the month dedicated to local consumption, the high commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, hosted an evening event at her residence, inviting directors and heads of provincial services to enjoy a tasting session of local dishes.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the gathering saw provincial officials, adorned in traditional attire like Faso danfani and koko donda, come together at the invitation of Ganzourgou's leading administrative authority. The meal showcased local culinary delights such as soumbala rice, white corn to, yellow corn to, sorghum to, a variety of gaonre, zamne, chicken, and grilled fish. These dishes were complemented by traditional drinks, including teedo juice (baobab fruit), zom-koom (millet juice), and dolo (a sorghum-based alcoholic drink), creating a convivial atmosphere.
Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba emphasized the broader significance of the event, linking it to a patriotic and economic movement. "The month of October is dedicated to consuming locally in Burkina Faso and the WAEMU countries. This is not just a slogan for us. By consuming what we produce, we promote our producers and strengthen the resilience of our populations," she stated.
The high commissioner appreciated the strong turnout from technical services and urged them to persist in promoting local consumption within their respective domains, particularly by embracing traditional fabrics. The evening concluded on a positive note, highlighting the commitment of Ganzourgou's provincial leaders to champion the national agenda of local product consumption.
