Orodara:The High Commissioner of K©n©dougou Province, Sadou Sakira, led the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Provincial Forum on the Informal Economy. The event, held in Orodara, was organized by the Provincial Directorate for Youth and Employment on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The High Commissioner emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration between stakeholders and support structures in the informal economy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the forum was themed "Informal Economy The Role of Support Institutions in Business Promotion." High Commissioner Sadou Sakira highlighted the informal economy's vital role in Burkina Faso's national economic framework, noting that it employs approximately 89% of the workforce and serves as a primary income source for many families.
The forum aims to demonstrate the authorities' and partners' commitment to better support individuals involved in the informal economy. It provides a platform for direct dialogue between economic promoters and support institutions, facilitating access to financing mechanisms and supporting the formalization of businesses.
Participants were encouraged by Comrade Sakira to share their experiences and challenges to find solutions tailored to the sector's realities, enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of businesses.
Seydou Hi©, the provincial director responsible for Youth and Employment, explained that the forum seeks to establish a dialogue framework between informal economy actors and support structures, promoting better access to information, financing, and entrepreneurship support mechanisms.
Aim©e Claire Traor©, the ceremony's patron, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, which she described as an opportunity for reflection and exchange benefiting those in the informal sector. She encouraged attendees to engage fully with the presentations and discussions, which focused on the event's theme and the sharing of experiences.
