Burkina Faso’s Educational Reforms Analyzed in Acclaimed Thesis

Koudougou:Anicet Pascal Gnaouana, an administrator of high schools and colleges, has been awarded the distinction "Very Honorable" for his doctoral thesis in educational sciences and training. His research, presented at Norbert-Zongo University, focuses on educational policies and examines Burkina Faso's educational reforms.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the thesis, titled "Crossed perspectives on educational reforms in Burkina Faso through the experience of the continuum of formal basic education," analyzes reforms since the 1960s. It highlights challenges in making these reforms sustainable, citing institutional instability, reliance on external funding, and a top-down governance approach that limits grassroots participation.

Dr. Gnaouana's research stemmed from his professional experiences and aims to provide an in-depth analysis rather than mere observation. His work stresses that successful educational reform relies not only on its conceptual soundness but also on effective implementation, stakeholder involvement, and the education system's capacity to sustain its impacts.

The research was deemed of high scientific quality by a jury chaired by Professor Zacharia Tiemtor©. It included Dr. Guy Romuald Ou©draogo as examiner, Professor Joseph B©ogo as rapporteur, and Professor Ibrahima Traor© from Mali as external rapporteur. The jury unanimously awarded the thesis the distinction "Very Honorable" and provided suggestions for further improvement.
