Record Seizure in Sanguie: More Than 1,000 Cartons of Prohibited Wine Intercepted in Tita

Sanguie: A joint operation carried out on March 18, 2026, resulted in the removal of a large shipment of illicit wine (more than 1,000 cartons) from the market in Tita, Pouni commune. The village of Tita was the scene of a major seizure carried out by the Regional Directorate of Industry, Trade and Crafts (DRICA) of Nando, supported by the Pouni gendarmerie.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of 1,050 cartons of "Sangria Forte" brand wine were seized. The merchandise, which did not meet Burkinabe standards, is valued at 8,400,000 CFA francs. The violation concerns the product's composition: with an alcohol content of 18%, this wine far exceeds the limit authorized by national regulations. As a reminder, Ministerial Decree No. 2021-0381 of July 12, 2021, strictly limits the alcohol content of wines sold in Burkina Faso to a range between 7% and 15%.

Through the voice of the regional director of DRICA, Siebou Sou, the authorities remind economic operators of the obligation to comply with the law to protect consumer health and ensure market transparency. The control services also encourage citizens to participate in the fight against fraud by reporting any suspicious practices via the toll-free numbers: 80 00 11 84 / 80 00 11 85.

This intervention confirms the determination of the Burkinabe authorities to intensify their policy of monitoring consumer products throughout the territory.
