Yodigui Spring Revitalized for World Water Day in Houet

Houet: The commune of Toussiana commemorated World Water Day this Sunday, March 22, 2026, through a sanitation operation marked by the cleaning of the Yodigui natural spring, a site of vital importance for local populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, alongside this day celebrated on March 22nd each year, the Keton Mafun association, through the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Festival, mobilized its members and the inhabitants of the locality around a civic activity to preserve water resources. Equipped with cleaning supplies, participants and local residents gave the Yodigui spring a new look. M'pie Mathias Traore, president of the Keton Mafun association, emphasized the historical significance of the spring, explaining that it played a crucial role in the settlement of populations in the area. "It deserves to be preserved, hence the fight we are waging," he stated. Through this initiative, the association aims to raise awareness among the population about the need to sustainably protect water resources, which are essential to life. "Water is life," Mr. Traore reminded everyone.
