Bomborokuy: Residents of the Bomborokuy commune and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) met on Sunday, July 5, 2026, to discuss the values of peace and social cohesion. The meeting was well-attended, with VDP members from the communes of Djibasso, Barani, Nouna, and Doumbala participating. Also taking part were members of the special delegation of the commune of Bomborokuy, representatives of citizen watch, and resource persons.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative aims to strengthen relations of trust between civilian populations and the VDP to establish a climate conducive to cooperation and mutual assistance. The VDP of Borekuy, S©t© Yadia, who initiated this meeting, explained that it stemmed from the conviction that sustainable security also requires dialogue and unity.

S©t© Yadia remarked on the importance of fostering a dialogue framework since VDP members are part of the communities they protect. ‘When the VDP and the people march together, we will remain stronger than ever in the face of challenges,’ he said.

The discussions allowed participants to address several concerns related to good collaboration between communities and VDPs, and proposals were formulated to consolidate social cohesion in the province of Koosin. Eric Coulibaly, present at the meeting, welcomed this initiative, seeing it as beneficial. He emphasized that a village progresses when its members communicate and support one another.

‘Today we saw that the people and the VDP came together in the same spirit of brotherhood. This is what our province needs to preserve peace and unity,’ Coulibaly expressed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, customary authorities, citizen watch representatives, and participants from other localities expressed satisfaction and encouraged the organizers to continue such efforts. The hope is that this experience will inspire other communities in the province to further strengthen community cohesion, solidarity, and resilience.
