Ropane and Touri Schools Triumph in CEB 1 and 2 Football Finals at Pissila

Sandbondtenga: Ropane and Touri Schools from Sector 3 secured victories in the CEB 1 and 2 football finals during the OSCEP 2026 event held in Pissila. The event marked a significant cultural and community gathering, reflecting gratitude towards ancestors and hope for peace in the commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event unfolded in front of the royal court of Pissila, with customary authorities and a large audience present to observe traditional ceremonies. The Nionionse, or land chiefs, began the proceedings by sacrificing animals, followed by similar rituals performed by the Bagba, the diviners. These acts of gratitude were directed towards the spirits of ancestors for the improved security in the area, seeking their continued protection and support for the people of Pissila and Burkina Faso.

Yarnaba Sawadogo, representing the land chiefs, expressed appreciation to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). Their combined efforts facilitated the resettlement of over forty villages displaced by past terrorist attacks. Baga Labila, speaking on behalf of the diviners, acknowledged the significance of the event, initiated by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and expressed a desire for further village reinstatements in future editions.

Naaba Koanga of Roumba extended gratitude to the participants and called for government support to ensure a prosperous winter season, which is essential for achieving food sovereignty for the community. The third edition of the Day of Customs and Traditions in Pissila concluded with a sense of social cohesion and collective resilience.
