Gourma National Language Certification Exam Sees Over 2,000 Candidates

Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of Gourma Province, Silas Nacanabo, officially launched the national language certification exam in Fada N'Gourma, with 2,206 candidates participating in the province. The event was attended by regional, provincial, and municipal administrative and educational authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Gourma, Ahadi Idani, detailed that the candidates are distributed across 45 examination centers throughout the province. Each basic education district is considered a jury, totaling seven juries for the entire Gourma province. The exam includes text analysis, calculations, and oral examinations in the selected disciplines for certification.

The exam is open to anyone wishing to be assessed in national languages, aligning with the ministerial policy for the promotion of bilingual and multilingual schools. This initiative is part of a broader transformation of traditional schools into bilingual institutions, a change embraced by teachers who are voluntarily participating.

High Commissioner Silas Nacanabo expressed satisfaction with the increased number of candidates compared to the previous year, with over 600 teachers involved in organizing the exam. He encouraged more individuals to participate in future sessions and praised the quality of the organization.

Among the candidates, teacher Mianhanla Ouali emphasized the importance of literacy in one's mother tongue, applying for Gulmance language certification to demonstrate her proficiency to her children. The examination is being conducted in the six communes of the Gourma province. The administrative authorities are committed to supporting the policy of promoting national languages.
