Sandbontenga: The traditional monthly flag-raising ceremony took place at the headquarters of the First Gendarmerie Legion in Kaya, with the event being presided over by Colonel-Major Blaise Ouedraogo, the Governor of the Koulse region. This ceremony served to honor the region's "heroes" and recognize their contributions across various fields.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony began with the raising of the national colors by the constituted bodies. The commander of the first legion of gendarmerie, Lieutenant-Colonel Theophile Tago, expressed his satisfaction with his institution's selection to host this civic event, emphasizing the openness of the defense and security forces' barracks to the public and their services.
The event also functioned as a platform for collaboration and acknowledgment of the region's distinguished individuals. Notably, heroes who have achieved national recognition were proudly presented. The Yaobgueta hotel in Korsimoro received the "Resilient Enterprise" prize at the National Tourism Entrepreneurship Prize (PNET) for its achievements in communication, culture, and tourism.
In addition, the Graine de Genie association from Kaya was honored with the trophy for best radio show at the 5th edition of the Lompolo night. The founder of the newspaper "Bangr-nooma," Lamoussa Abdoulaye Sawadogo, won the Galian 2025 prize in national language, while Abdoul Wahab Ganame, a student and deputy editor of the school newspaper "L'oeil du municipal," secured the Bibir Galian Prize in the interview category.
In the health and innovation sector, Zakaria Sawadogo was awarded the first special prize from the Ministry of Health at the National Forum for Research and Technological Innovations (FRSIT) 2025 for his innovative production of fish food. Dr. Paramanga Ouoba, the regional health director, also introduced a team of surgeons who successfully operated on a brain tumor, bringing immense relief to the patient's family.
