Ouagadougou: The municipality of Satiri adopts the local land charter for the “Zodoun” village forest of Kadomba. The special delegation of the commune of Satiri, in partnership with the ‘Protection and Rehabilitation of Soils’ project (PROSOL), organized on Tuesday, in the meeting room of the town hall, a workshop to validate the local land charter of the village forest ‘Zodoun’, located in the village of Kadomba.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was attended by the regional director of Water and Forests for Guiriko, Colonel Hassime Rabo, resource persons, traditional authorities, representatives of local communities, and several stakeholders involved in the sustainable management of forest resources. Participants reviewed the draft charter, offered observations, and proposed amendments for its adoption.

Presiding over the proceedings, Emmanuel Ou©draogo, president of the special delegation (PDS) of the Satiri commune, invited participants to actively engage in the discussions in order to enrich the document. He emphasized that everyone’s contributions were essential to reaching a consensus-based charter, guaranteeing sustainable, collaborative, and responsible management of the “Zodoun” village forest.

Following discussions and the review of various proposed amendments, the local land charter for the “Zodoun” village forest was unanimously adopted. The various stakeholders commended the quality of the debates and the spirit of collaboration that prevailed throughout the workshop, welcoming the successful completion of the process. This charter now serves as the framework for the preservation, enhancement, and participatory management of the “Zodoun” village forest.
