Sebba Health District Rallies Community for Anti-Vector Sanitation Drive

Ouagadougou: As part of the National Anti-Vector Day (JNAV), the Sebba health district organized a day of sanitation and destruction of larval sites with a strong mobilization of the population. The chief medical officer of the Sebba health district, Comrade Alexandre Ganou, accompanied by the first vice-president of the special delegation of the commune, Comrade Amadou Bokoum, and several provincial officials, mobilized the population for a sanitation operation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial directors in charge of agriculture and animal resources, the director of humanitarian action, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the citizen watch coordination team, and the municipal youth president also participated in the activity. Host communities and internally displaced persons responded massively to the call.

The main activity consisted of cleaning the gutters around the Sebba market. Equipped with their tools, men, women, young people, and the elderly participated in the work to clean up the area and improve access to the market. In addition to clearing the gutters, participants destroyed larval breeding sites identified in some households and along certain roads in the town.

This operation aims in particular to reduce places conducive to the proliferation of mosquitoes and other disease vectors. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the first vice-president of the special delegation, Comrade Amadou Bokoum, commended the mobilization of the population and thanked all the participants. He urged them to maintain this spirit of solidarity whenever the common good demands it.

For his part, Chief Medical Officer Alexandre Ganou emphasized the need for each household to maintain a clean environment to limit mosquito proliferation. He also expressed particular gratitude to the security forces and the volunteer community for their strong mobilization. He assured residents that the health district remains available to support the population and announced that another activity will be organized as part of the National Vector Control Days.
