Seno: The New Regional Director of Customs for the North Pledges to Continue the Work of the Public Service

Dori: The new regional director of customs for the North, Divisional Customs Inspector Valentin Bakyono, pledged on Thursday in Dori to continue providing public service and strengthening collaboration among the various stakeholders in the region, during his installation ceremony. The Northern Customs Region covers the administrative regions of Sahel (Liptako and Soum), Koulse, and Yadga, with Dori as its capital.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Customs Divisional Inspector Valentin Bakyono was installed in his new position as regional director of customs for the North by the Secretary General of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda. He acknowledged the scope of the mission entrusted to him in a context marked by significant security and economic challenges.

To achieve this mission, Mr. Bakyono sought the support and collaboration of all regional entities, including the defense and security forces (FDS), economic operators, and decentralized technical services. "Customs administration is one of the pillars of mobilizing state financial resources and protecting the national economic fabric," he recalled.

The Secretary General of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda, praised the quality of work done by the outgoing director, Nab Alexis Dabire, while congratulating the new director for the trust placed in him by the highest authorities. He assured the regional administration of its willingness to support the new manager in his public service mission.

Outgoing director Colonel-Major Nab Alexis Dabire expressed his satisfaction with the work accomplished during his tenure. "I leave my post with the feeling of having successfully fulfilled my mission," he declared, before presenting a positive assessment of the achievements. Under his leadership, the Northern Regional Customs Directorate achieved a 111% revenue collection rate in 2024, earning the directorate a letter of commendation from the Minister of Economy and Finance.

Appointed by the Council of Ministers on October 9, 2025, Mr. Valentin Bakyono takes the reins of a strategic department, at the heart of the mobilization of public resources and the economic regulation of northern Burkina Faso.
