Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Sourou province, Wendyam Martial Ouedraogo, praised the resilience of the workers and the entire population of Kassan (Tougan Commune) who returned to their locality thanks to the determination of the fighters. The commendation took place during the monthly flag-raising ceremony at School A in Kassan, a village located about ten kilometers from the town of Tougan.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was attended by local leaders and marked a significant moment as it highlighted the determination of the workers and the resilience of the inhabitants. The residents of Kassan, who had been displaced to Tougan in 2023, returned to their village last year. The Secretary General, representing High Commissioner Desire Badolo, emphasized the importance of this ceremony as a salute to their courage and determination.
'A few years ago, nobody wanted to set foot here. Here we are today, gathered for a national flag-raising ceremony. I commend the courage and determination of the workers of Kassan, as well as the resilience of its entire population,' declared Mr. Ouedraogo. He further highlighted that the choice of Kassan for the ceremony is a symbol of recognition for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), whose efforts facilitated the return to normalcy in the area.
In addition, the Secretary General urged the population to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with the armed forces. The traditional chief of Kassan, present at the ceremony, offered blessings for the highest authorities in the country and for all the workers of the province.
The principal of Kassan's A School, Issa Jonas Zouri, expressed his delight at hosting the ceremony, noting that it inspires them to redouble their efforts in service to the nation. The Secretary General concluded by commending the strong mobilization of the population and all active forces, despite the distance from the provincial capital, and noted that all state services relocated to Tougan were able to return to Kassan due to the efforts of the Sourou fighting forces.
