Namentenga: A Public Conference on Patriotic Commitment and the Culture of Peace in Boulsa

Namentenga: The Regional Directorate for Human Rights and Citizenship Promotion of the North-Central Region held a public conference on citizenship, patriotic engagement, a culture of peace, and social cohesion in Boulsa. Chaired by the High Commissioner of Namentenga Province, Adama Conseiga, the event saw participation from administrative authorities, educational staff, and students from local high schools and middle schools.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the objective of this conference was to revitalize the patriotic spirit of Burkinabe citizens through discussions centered on the ideals of the Democratic and Popular Revolution (RDP). The conference aimed to foster a deeper understanding of citizenship and civic responsibility.

The speakers addressed several key themes, including the duties of the citizen, peace, social cohesion, tolerance, and mechanisms for conflict resolution. Participants expressed various concerns such as secularism, the behavior of teachers interrupting classes for prayer, and issues related to promiscuity. The audience found the responses to these concerns satisfactory.

The regional director of human rights for the Centre-North, Mr. Zakaria Bayoulou, emphasized the importance of legal awareness, stating, "no one is supposed to be ignorant of the law," highlighting the need to combat ignorance with awareness and civic education. He noted the success of the public conference due to the active engagement of stakeholders in the discussions.

High Commissioner Adama Conseiga praised the initiative and expressed gratitude to the provincial director of Secondary, Technical, and Vocational Education for his support in organizing the event. He also commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to serve as role models in society.

A participant took the opportunity to share the history of joking kinship between the populations of Tema-Bokin, Mane, and Boulsa, underscoring its role in promoting peace and social cohesion.
