Sissili: The High Commissioner of the Sissili Province, Tewende Isaac Sia, visited Leo's middle school students participating in a civic and patriotic immersion program. The visit, which took place on January 22, 2026, included a tour of a school farm and aimed to provide firsthand insights into the program, which began on January 8.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative involves 2,060 students from the Provincial High School and the Municipal High School in Leo, with the program set to last six weeks. The purpose of this session is to instill civic awareness in young students. High Commissioner Sia, accompanied by administrative and military officials, emphasized the program's goal of developing accomplished individuals who can contribute to the country's growth.
Serge Lawabien Toe, the Provincial Director of Secondary, Vocational, and Technical Education, highlighted the dual focus on physical training and societal skills. He noted the importance of preparing students for the pivotal times facing Burkina Faso. Commander Foroto, head of the military detachment in Leo, encouraged unity and cohesion among the students, urging them to learn from their instructors' exemplary behavior.
The visit concluded with a tour of the wheat field at the Leo Provincial High School, where students are practicing food sovereignty. The High Commissioner praised this initiative as a blend of civic education and local production, aligning with the country's development goals championed by Captain Ibrahim Traore.
